Do You Remember Your New-Year’s Resolutions?

At the beginning of the year, many of us set intentions with the best of hopes:

Move more, eat better, sleep more, reduce stress, save money, be more present, or finally make time for ourselves.

But life happens.

Work becomes busy. Family needs our attention. Travel, holidays, routines, stress, and unexpected responsibilities can easily move our goals to the bottom of the list.

You are not alone.

Research and surveys consistently show that many people stop working toward their resolutions very early in the year. One commonly cited survey found that 23% of people give up within the first week of January, and about 43% have given up on their resolution by the end of January.

By the end of the year, only a small percentage say they fully followed through.

But here is the good news…

You do not need to wait until January to begin AGAIN.

Summer is a beautiful opportunity to pause, reflect, and create new goals that actually fit the life you are living now.

The goals we set in winter may not make sense in July. Summer has its own rhythm: longer days, vacations, children at home, social events, travel, heat, changing work schedules, and a natural desire to enjoy life a little more.

This is not the time for punishment, perfection, or an extreme plan.

This is the time for a reset.

Create Goals That Feel Doable and Realistic

Instead of trying to change everything at once, choose a few habits that support your physical and mental well-being.

Realistic Goal Sample List

  1. Take a 20-minute walk three times a week.

  2. Add one extra serving of vegetables to your day.

  3. Drink a full glass of water before coffee or your first meal.

  4. Go to bed 20 minutes earlier on weeknights.

  5. Take five slow breaths before responding to a stressful email.

  6. Schedule one joyful activity each week: a swim, a walk with a friend, reading outside, a class, or a family dinner.

  7. Prepare two simple healthy meals at home each week.

  8. Stretch for five minutes after a long day at your desk.

  9. Put your phone away for 30 minutes before bed.

  10. Choose one thing each day that helps you feel more like yourself.

The goal is not to do everything perfectly.

The goal is to create a life that supports your energy, health, focus,

and peace of mind.

Three Easy Ways

to Stay Accountable

Make your goal specific.“Exercise more” can become:

“I will walk for 20 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”

Track the habit—not perfection.

Use a calendar, planner, or simple checklist. Every walk, glass of water, healthy meal, or bedtime routine is proof that you are showing up for yourself.

Tell someone.

Share your goal with a friend, family member, colleague, coach, or wellness partner. Accountability becomes easier when we do not have to do everything alone.

Remember: missing one day does not mean you failed. It simply means you are human. Begin again at the next meal, the next morning, or the next opportunity.

At The CompanYogi, I believe wellness should feel personal, supportive, and possible in real life.
